Wild Flowers Disappearing!

I love wild flowers.  It just so happens that my husband took this photo of me yesterday.  That's our dog Simon.    I admire these flowers everyday.  Their random growth smiling out from the grass as if saying "hello there!"   "Isn't the color yellow divine.?"

As fate would have it, today construction workers showed up and ripped the blossoms right out.  They're making way for a fence.  I guess so that we can become even more colorless, isolated beings.

I was heart broken.  Why are we constantly destroying the earth and all of it's beauty?  Why do we let idiot politician's get away with saying things like " there is no such thing as climate change"?

No doubt the flowers will be replaced by some plastic fence, mimicking the old fashioned picket fence.  Plastic however will last forever, whoopee!  Picket fences were made for decoration, these will  keep  prying eyes of others away.  God forbid we may wish to connect with our neighbors.

There was a lovely bee on the daisy, we are loosing the honey bee's too.  Another way that humankind is destroying itself.

About the word human-kind, isn't that the ultimate oxymoron?

Let me know your thoughts in the comments.  I hope you enjoyed the flowers, get them while you still can.

June is here! What's to come this June on Harvest Moon

First off I'm going on a Virtual Vactation.

I am posting this beach painting once again because I just read Caroyln Dube's blog post on taking a virtual vacation.  She wants to go to the beach.  I live on Long Island, NY so I am always at the beach.

I grew up here, this is home.  The reason I stay here is because of the Beach, Ocean and Bay.   I love the water!  I love that the warm weather is here and I can get outside and enjoy all of outdoor Island life.

I've lived in other places where water was hard to come by.  I missed the ocean terribly.

My sister and niece came up to visit from Houston this week.  We went to the ocean.  It was beautiful, hot like a summers day. The beach wasn't crowded except for the college kids just let out after finals.

All of the photos I'm posting here are of Long Island in the winter.  I forgot to bring my camera to the beach yesterday

The Month of June, Harvest Moon Blog is going to be all about the Sand and Surf.

The ocean is beautiful anytime of year, and I'm going to show you all around Long Island, the Light houses, the parks.

I'll take you beach-combing with me and see what shells and drift wood we can make into oil paintings.

They'll be lot's of outdoor Summer Sketching, so bring along your sketchbook.

I'm going to do some plein air painting and get outside with my art.  Come on, you  know you want to do it too.

We'll take some fabulous photos....

We'll sketch the Wildlife and Ocean waves on a mild day.

Maybe try some watercolor painting and sketching.

Our treasures will be turned into master pieces...so don't miss all the fun in June!

Hope you have a glorious Virtual Vacation.
