How are you today? I hope all is well and the sun is shining in your part of the world.
My son came home from school with this for me, for Mother's Day. It is a teeny little plant about 3 inches tall. Made my day, especially that it was so tiny and my little boy noticed it and chose it for me. He knows I'm not the over the top, gotta have a huge bouquet, kinda person. A tiny, peach fuzzy plant is totally my style.
This is a watercolor that I made last week. I was going to add more to the painting but after framing it in floral patterns, it seemed just right.

I was at Michael's on Tuesday and couldn't help but take more photos to manipulate on my favorite photo editing site. ....
When you blow up the photo all of the different colors shine through. You never realize how many colors are in the crystals like, yellows, violet, aquas, blues, greens and even orange and red show up.
These feathers were in the package. I made the label show through and the effect came out really wild. When you photograph pieces that have interest it's amazing what you can do with the photos later on.
I wanted to buy these white feathers but I didn't have to because I think the photo is even more wonderful with the layer of plastic and the label showing through.
A photo a little out of focus is more intriguing sometimes.
Pops of color, especially in the children's isle.
I adore peacock feathers. Again the plastic wrapping makes for a beautiful effect.

I could spend hours roaming craft stores the isles of beads and all things that sparkle.
My kids absolutely groan when I just want to make " a quick stop" at Michael's.
I liked the yellow contrasting against the dark blues and violet.

All of these photos are great fodder to inspire more artwork. I love playing with the textures and colors on my camera. Makes for some interesting images.

I am so going to look at the aisles of the stores differently- your photos completely see it in a new and creative way! So much inspiration- thanks for such a wonderful post!
I love going into art shops but especially craft supply shops and just spending as much time as possible browsing, dreaming, imagining...wishing I could just buy half (if not more than half) of the fantastic stuff on offer. Unfortunately, there aren't all that many crafts shops in Ireland, compared to the US or the UK.
I think I'd love Michael's. Actually, who am I kidding? I'd be in there every single day, completely in love with a shop like that.
I think you're right on your 'Muse' painting, Denni. I love it just the way it is right now. Sometimes I can get carried away in wanting to make a painting look 'just right,' and I wind up forcing it to go to a place it - the painting - doesn't want to go. But more often than not, thankfully, I sense when I've done enough with it, and that it looks and feels just right. Like your 'Muse' - she looks just right.
Your son has lovely taste in Mother's Day prezzies - what a sweet and thoughtful gift.
Thanks for sharing all these colours and images with us, and I wish you and all the mothers out there a truly lovely Mother's Day tomorrow.
