Happy Memorial Day Weekend! And Inspire me Monday.

What is inspiring me today?  The thought of summer at the beach and being outdoors in the country.  We went to a farm not to long ago and I got some photos of sheep.  So thinking about nature, the beach, fields of sheep has inspired my two new paintings.

Both are not quite finished.  The beach scene needs final touches, I want to add more color in the trees, maybe a little more color in the water.  The photo on the right is an oil painting of a sheep. It's  just at the beginning stage.  I just posted her now because I liked the roughness of the brushstrokes.  I always photo graph my works in progress so if I mess something up I can go back and see what was working.

The sheep painting is all about textures and circular motion.  It's actually a lot of fun to do.

It's been a quiet Memorial Day Weekend.  The kids got to go swimming for the first time this season..  I'm awaiting the arrival of my sister and niece coming up from Houston for a visit.  There should be a lot more excitement going on around here once they come.  I can't believe summer is almost here.  It was sunny and warm today and I loved it.

Hope you have a happy and safe Memorial day!
I'm posting this to "Inspire Me Monday" for the first time.

Okay, the sheep is attractive, but that landscape to the left, oh the moon, the moon!
So glad I stopped by and discovered your exquisite art, Denise.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful Memorial Day!

In the absence of inspiration, do you still sit down to paint or write anyway?
Or do you procrastinate and wait for motivation? Swing by and share.

These are wonderful! Your beach makes me long for an ocean side vacation. Those brushstrokes are fabulous! I can see why you wanted to post it now- I have had that same feeling as some of my paintings and journal pages developed.

Hey Denise. Sounds like you and your family will have fun. Houston is a long way from where you live. I can see how the sheep painting is fun; like the storm brewing in the waters in the beach scene. Yes, summer is here. No more school buses. I'm painting today and can't wait to get started! Blessings Terri -- PS thanks for stopping by my blog

Denise the paintings are absolutely beautiful, but I can't stop laughing at your desire for summer at the beach. I just came back from the beach with the flu and heat rashes :-)

Dear Denise,

Welcome to Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy! It is SUCH a delight to meet you! Your art and blog are AWESOME. I loved reading everyone's response to your work - that sheep just jumped out at me (I think the color spoke my language!)

I look forward to getting to know you and seeing more of your fabulous art! I also host Wordless Wednesday (I don't penalize for chattiness!) and Friendship Friday, so check those out when you have a moment as well!
