Blog Brainstorming

I was brainstorming some ideas for a blog post and suddenly it occurred to me, that's my post.  So I'm asking you, how is it that you go about writting your posts?  Do you prepare posts in advance or wing it?

I'm more the wing it type.  I don't like schedules, I keep things free.  When I'm inspired to write I do.  I'm not totally flighty though.  I do try and sit down at the computer early in the morning to write.  Show up and just say what's on my mind.

Then I keep them in draft form for finishing.  I try to wait a day before posting but sometimes I just can't wait and have to post right then.

This month I tried being more proactive in my blog post writing.

Instead of being "willy nilly"  I wrote down themes and ideas for a series of posts.

This month, I made a "What's to come" post for the month of May.  I liked that very much because it kept me on track.  I had an outline to follow.  I think I'm going to keep this strategy.  It worked out well for me by giving me a starting point to expand on.

I'm a list maker, problem is I make the list and then promptly misplace it. ("Now where did I put that tiny scrap of paper that I had my great idea on?")

There are those categories that are the main stay of my blog.  The topics that I normally blog about such as what is inspiring me, works in progress, how to be more creative....

Keeping a Blog book is a good thing to have.  Just something small that you can keep in a pocket or purse.  Somewhere to keep all of the great ideas you have brewing.  I also keep notes on my iphone which is terrific for those "Eureka" moments.

Tutorials and How to's are always a good post but I rarely do them.  I would like to do more of them but I only want to post things that others are not doing.  I believe most of the readers of this blog know a lot about how to paint and do mixed media art.  But when something comes up that I just learned or I think will help you, I jump to it.

I like to talk about creativity, where it comes from, what inspires me, how to have the time to create.  Those are the things I can never get enough of.  I like to hear about your ideas and how you go about blogging.

Let me know in the comments what ways you are brainstorming ideas for your blog.

While your here why don't you bookmark my blog to your favorites and come back to visit soon.  I'd love to get to know you, leave a comment and I'll be sure to visit your blog or website.

I just wing it. Whatever comes up, comes up. I like your ideas of keeping a small journal in the purse for notes, etc. Like your pieces too. Have a wonderful weekend and holiday. The Smokey concert was just awesome. He rocks!

I wing it too! I made a commitment to post 2-3 times a week and have been doing that for the past three years. I see what show's up from a piece of art making or an idea that pops out in the shower or when I walk the dogs. No plans, no lists, no nothing else. I haven't run out of ideas yet. But I do think the practice of writing as with anything else makes writing regularly easier and flows into the art and flows into the writing etc....Happy rest of your holiday. xox

I don't plan too much for my art blog, especially this month since I'm doing a daily challenge so I have something to blog about (almost) everyday. Having a deadline keeps me on track with drawing something every day so that I have something to post. Sometimes when I have not much to say, I just post my art with a few sentences to explain what I have done. :-)

I just wing it and just about anything inspires me, plants, animals, food, and my work in progress, travel, I could go on,

I do like tutorial type posts others write since I am infinitely curious

sometimes I have an idea for a post and I write it up as a draft and then save it for later, then the right time to post it happens to come up. then sometimes I write a post and the writing takes over for me.

I never get time to write lengthy posts now. Even most of the AJ pages that I do never gets finished on the same day.I have the same problem with lists, i never remember where I have kept them. I do keep a Dream-Idea journal where I write or sketch my ideas whenever I can.

I keep a binder and I love to plan and am always working on themes and projects. I love yours though because it is very artsy...since I am more of a writer sometimes my stuff seems very schoolish...but since I love to create I often include scraps, taped in and lots of visual inspiration...I love your sharing. Perhaps this might be helpful to share over at our Random Journal Day Link up Denise. I invite you to share it if you would like! Here is the link (to make it easy if you want- if not that is OK!) http://beneaththesurface-dawn.blogspot.com/2012/06/random-journal-day-link-up-12.html
