What in the World?

Can you guess what this is?  It's a work in progress and I wanted to leave part of it off so that you the viewer could focus on the color, flow and overall feeling of the painting rather than focusing on what it is.

I like how it is turning out but I asked my husband what he thought it was and he said "a bird"?  Back to the drawing (painting) board!

Let me know what you think it is.

Have a great weekend PPF people!

Sea side painting

Sea side painting for my sister Lisa

I don't know about you but since the start of the school year, I have been BUSY!   October is a very busy month for our family for birthdays too.

My sister Lisa was on October 8th, my son Aidan is October 17th,  I also have two sister in- laws, a niece and a nephew birthday as well.

We celebrated the whole weekend and Monday for Aidan's birthday.  Doesn't look like he was having fun here...

but, by the time he got his cake a smile appeared.

I caught a photo of a butterfly right before it flew off.  Looks like a card...but I did take it with my point and shoot!

We got a few good walks in to work off all of the cake and goodies we ate.

I am enjoying this weather so much.  Fall is my favorite time of year, I love all of the color.  Except that the usual color we get has not arrived here.  I guess it's because we had the hurricane in August and a lot of rain to boot!

I leave you with a fun clip of the dogs we met at the park.  I hope you are enjoying the Autumn weather!

Textural effects

I was  inspired by these little mushrooms I spied in the grass over this past weekend.

The vibrant colors of these Dalias made me want to go "way out" with paint colors.

And add lots of texture to my painting!

I kept these elements in mind as I reworked the shell and mushroom pastel painting.  This time around I  used acrylic paint, oil pastel crayons and molding paste for all of that great texture!

What is inspiring you today?
